The Team
Join the Engineering Branch at Ministry of Forests, an established team of 55 professionals, including engineers, forest technologists, and administrative staff. This team oversees the maintenance and critical upgrades of over 12,000 km of capital Forest Service Roads and bridges across the province, working alongside regional operations, BC Timber Sales, BC Wildfire Services, Corporate Services for the Nature Resource Sector, Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness and others. As part of this team, you’ll contribute to restoring damaged infrastructure through the federal Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements program, helping to rebuild communities impacted by disasters. The Role
In this role as the DFAA Program Manager, you will administer the Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements (DFAA) program for Forest Service Roads, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring financials, while serving as a subject matter expert on DFAA guidelines. Your work will play a crucial role in the successful restoration of damaged infrastructure and the recovery of funds, benefiting communities across the province. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with an engaged team of professionals across various ministries, combining financial, administrative, and technical expertise to support positive outcomes on the landbase.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Technical Diploma in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) OR an equivalent combination of education/training may also be considered
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in a related natural resource discipline.
  • Training in project management or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Significant experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project or regional initiative.
  • Experience in managing project teams.
  • Experience managing relationships with senior level partners.
  • Experience with government financial management processes, including forecasting, reporting and budgeting.
  • Experience with conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices.
     

Willingness statements

  • Valid B.C. driver’s licence.
  • Field work is part of this role which may include travel to remote areas, overnight or extended stays and outdoor work in all weather conditions with the potential for wildlife overlap.
  • Working after hours or weekends may be required.
