Description

The Team
The Northern Service Delivery Area (SDA) is responsible for the delivery of community-based services, including child welfare, child and youth mental health, children and youth with support needs, adoption and guardianship, resources, early years, youth transition, and youth justice services across a large geographic area in BC.

The Role
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Service Delivery Division, the Associate Executive Director of Service (AEDS) has a key role in leading service delivery and operations across the SDA. They are accountable for providing leadership and direction to SDA staff to ensure services across disciplines and business streams meet ministry goals, targets, and defined outcomes. The AEDS will receive operational oversight and day-to-day direction from the Executive Director of Service within the SDA. This position will also work closely with the SDA’s Directors of Operations and other ministry partners.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas: Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Education, Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience leading large-scale complex operations which include using project management, change management and communication principles.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a managerial role in a social sector organization with responsibility for direct client and program service delivery, planning and evaluation.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with human resource practices (e.g., recruitment, training, performance management, labour relations, succession planning, staff engagement, and recognition).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction, or equivalent (i.e., from another Canadian Province).
     

Preference may be given to those with:

  • At least two (2) years of continuous experience as a senior leader (Director or above) at MCFD.
  • Applicants who are C6 delegated or immediately eligible for C6 delegation.
  • Experience in the management and supervision of geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Experience working with Indigenous peoples in the context of BC’s Reconciliation priorities.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
This position is excluded from union membership
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work a hybrid schedule as per the Telework Agreement upon discussion with supervisor.
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
This position will have an in-office requirement in the Northern SDA. You will be required to travel to surrounding communities and provincially for meetings. Only travel that is pre-approved will be eligible for travel status.

A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
