The Team
The Office of Mass Timber Implementation (OMTI) is a dedicated team of 15 professionals focused on advancing the Mass Timber Action Plan and transforming mass timber building construction from a niche to a mainstream option. The team is mostly Victoria-based with some Vancouver staff as well. Since its inception in 2020, OMTI has consistently been recognized as Top Work Unit with WES scores in the 99% percentile of the public service. Their objectives include increasing demand, stimulating manufacturing growth, and supporting a sustainable, low-carbon future through innovative sector development, enhanced technical tools, and workforce education. By collaborating with local, national, and international partners, they drive economic growth, environmental sustainability, and community benefits through strategic initiatives and groundbreaking projects. Their efforts showcase B.C.'s leadership on the global stage while fostering inclusive development and economic reconciliation with Indigenous communities.

The Role
As the Director, Partnerships you will have room to shape the strategic direction of OMTI as we subscribe to a strengths-based and interests-based approach to work assignments. Current areas of focus for OMTI include supply chain and cost analysis, demonstration funding programs, First Nations relationship building, and planning to host the September 2025 International Woodrise Congress in Vancouver.    

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • A degree in architecture, engineering, economics, business administration, public administration, forestry or related field AND three (3) years *related experience

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  

*Related experience includes:

  • Strategic policy experience related to building, construction, manufacturing, or forestry.

  • Technical experience in the development/construction industry, as a regulator or in codes and standards development.

  • Experience in developing and analyzing regulations and systems thinking.

  • Experience working with senior officials, other levels of government and industry stakeholders and partners to provide advice and recommendations.

  • Experience leading and managing/coaching/engaging professional staff, including technical experts.

  • Experience with project management, engagement strategies and strategic planning.

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Four (4) or more years of related experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
