The Team
The Engineering Branch is responsible for overseeing the safe management of the provincial resource road network by developing policies, standards, and providing professional expertise. The team ensures that engineering practices align with regulatory compliance, environmental considerations, and public safety.

The Role
The Senior Area Engineer offers an opportunity to lead complex engineering projects, providing technical expertise and supervision across multiple engineering disciplines. This role will support key infrastructure initiatives and collaborate with external stakeholders to guide decisions that impact land management and resource development.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in civil/forest engineering or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration in British Columbia with Engineers and Geoscientist of British Columbia.
  • Extensive expeience in multiple engineering disciplines with a minimum of 5 years in the forest resource sector or 7 years in a specialized field of engineering providing engineering expertise in the forest resource sector with respect to project management, infrastructure planning, design and/or construction projects.
  • Comprehensive experience in regulatory management in the applicable natural resource field.
  • Extensive contract management experience.
  • Complex project management experience.


Preference maybe given to the applicants with:

  • Experience in Forest Resource Road/Bridge construction and /or Deactivation Practices.
  • Recent 5 years experience within the last 10 years in Natural Resource Management, Forest Resource Road Engineering and/or Natural Resource Access Management.


Provisos:

  • Withstand the rigors of field work.
  • Work in adverse outdoor conditions and terrain.
  • Meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.
  • Obtain a B.C. driver’s license or already have valid B.C driver’s license.
  • Conduct field work which may include travel and outdoor work in all weather conditions, and flying in remote locations.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
