The Team
Chilliwack Community Corrections is a well-established team consisting of 19 positions including probation officers, administrative assistants, an office manager, senior probation officers and a local manager.  We work diligently to deliver an excellent level of client service and collaborate with various community partners to support our clients in making lasting pro-social change. The Role
As a Probation Officer 15, you'll work under the direction of the Senior Probation Officer, supervising adult clients released on bail and managing low-risk offenders. You’ll also assist in supervising medium and high-risk offenders as part of a collaborative team. This role operates with a high level of independence as an ‘officer of the court,’ typically working alongside other Probation Officers either in-office or remotely. You’ll report to the Senior Probation Officer, who, in turn, reports to the Local Manager overseeing community corrections.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year diploma or 60 credits of post-secondary education towards a diploma or degree from a Canadian designated educational institution.
  • Successful completion of the Adult Probation Officer pre-requisite course (CORR1000). Exemptions may apply.
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license. A valid Class 7 may be considered.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with a minimum of 6 months experience as a probation officer/probation officer 15.

Proviso / Willingness Statement:

•    Willing to work with adult clients who may have multiple legal, health, social, and/or mental health challenges and/or clients who have committed or alleged to have committed criminal acts including intimate partner violence or sexually motivated offences.
•    Overnight travel to remote locations and working outside typical work hours may be required.

Note: Candidates who are currently employed as a Probation Officer 15 or Adult Probation Officer (auxiliary or regular) with the BC Corrections Branch are deemed to meet the education, experience, pre-requisite course, and language proficiency index qualifications and are not required to provide proof with their application.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
