The Team
The StudentAid BC Policy Team is an established and collaborative group dedicated to improving student financial assistance for over 200,000 students in British Columbia. Our team, consisting of skilled policy analysts and senior policy analysts, works closely with various departments to shape policies that enhance access to post-secondary education. We’re committed to fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives drive meaningful change in student financial support.

The Role
As a Policy Analyst with StudentAid BC, you'll lead and manage key policy development projects, working independently and collaboratively to shape policies that improve access to post-secondary education. Your role involves reviewing and revising existing programs, developing new policies, and coordinating with various partners to support students across British Columbia. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to ensuring that all students, including those from low- and middle-income backgrounds and students with disabilities, have the financial support they need to succeed.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Public or Business Administration, Economics, Education, Law, or other relevant area of study and one (1) year of *related experience; OR
  • Diploma or certificate in Social Sciences, Public or Business Administration, Economics, Education, Law, or other relevant area of study and minimum two (2) years of *related experience; OR 
  • An equivalent combination of education and *related experience may be considered.


*Related experience may include:

  • Planning, developing, analyzing and evaluating strategic and/or operational programs and policies.
  • Planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
  • Writing in a variety of formats and for a variety of audiences (e.g., briefing notes, reports, presentations, partner communications, etc.).
  • Using statistical and qualitative assessment methods to analyze and compare data, trends, and best practices from various sources; integrating and supplying statistical and analytical information in graphic and narrative formats; and ensuring the accuracy and currency of information.    
  • Providing advice and recommendations to senior officials. 


Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience with social sector or education sector policy.
  • Experience participating in partner consultations.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
