The Team
At Surrey Provincial Court's Criminal & Traffic Registry, you'll be joining an established and collaborative team that oversees one of the largest and busiest locations in the Fraser Region. You’ll work directly with 18+ staff, another Supervisor, and the Manager of Registry Operations. Our team values inclusivity, providing support, training, and mentorship to all members. The Role
As a Senior Registry Technician/Criminal Registry Supervisor at Surrey Provincial Court's Criminal & Traffic Registry, you'll play a key leadership role overseeing and mentoring 18+ staff members. You'll ensure smooth daily operations by managing staff schedules, leave requests, and performance profiles, while maintaining compliance with criminal and traffic procedures. In this role, you'll also provide continuous training on policies and procedures, and work closely with another Supervisor, the Manager of Registry Operations, and many others in this large location. As part of this role, you will act independently, and exercise Judicial Authority as a Justice of the Peace as assigned by the Office of the Chief Judge of the Provincial Court of BC. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Must have Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED)
  • Three (3) years’ experience working in a legal environment, with two (2) years’ experience working in Court Administration
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (ex: Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must have or be able to obtain an appointment as a Justice of the Peace in the Province of British Columbia within six (6) months of appointment. 

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, CCD, ARC, CTAS)
  • Experience as a Court Clerk and/or Registry Clerk
  • Experience as a Justice of the Peace
  • Supervisory experience within the last two (2) years in a legal environment or Court Administration. 

Provisos

  • This position is excluded from the Union.
  • Attendance and completion of relevant training is required.
  • May be required to work flexible hours, including varied shifts and overtime on short notice.
  • May be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas, including circuit court locations. Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others.
  • Able to lift heavy objects up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
