Description

The Team
The Systems, Operations, Planning, and Support (SOPS) team in the Property Taxation Branch of the Ministry of Finance identifies opportunities for improvement in both business and system processes. Our team of 10, including Junior Business Analysts, Business Analysts, and Senior Business Analysts, collaborates with executive, leadership, and service providers to support business areas and public-facing systems. Our team fosters a collaborative environment where we balance self-directed work with mutual support. 

The Role
As a Business Analyst, you'll take the lead in enhancing business information systems, driving improvements, and spearheading re-engineering projects that make a real difference. Your work will ensure clients can easily access essential services like Homeowner grants, Tax Deferment, and property registration. With the branch’s growth, your role will evolve, offering an exciting opportunity to tackle challenges and see the positive impact of your contributions firsthand!

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in a related field (i.e. Business Analysis, Technology, Computer Science) plus minimum one (1) year of experience in a related field such as data or financial analytics, business transformation or IM/IT.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience using a range of business intelligence tools, statistical reporting, and/or information management systems.
  • Experience with stakeholder management, requirements analysis and/or process improvement methodology.
  • Experience with financial reporting, financial systems development, data analysis and/or information management processes.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • More years of experience in the above listed experiences.
  • Experience with property taxation policies and/or procedures.  
  • Experience using the GenTax software package.
  • Experience testing GenTax software and changes.  
     

Proviso

  • Overtime may be required, and vacation time may be restricted during peak periods of operation.
