The Team
The Southeast Initiatives Secretariat, a newly established multi-ministry body, operates under the guidance of an Assistant Deputy Minister and reports directly to the Deputy Ministers’ Committee on Natural Resources. With representation from various ministries including Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, Environment and Climate Change Strategy, and others, this Secretariat aims to create a unified strategy for the responsible mining of metallurgical coal in the Elk Valley. The goal is to balance ongoing mining activities with environmental improvements, manage cumulative effects, and engage First Nations in decision-making processes to foster healthy and thriving communities.

The Role
As the Project Management Advisor, you'll be at the heart of managing and supporting the Secretariat's initiatives. Your responsibilities will involve project management, such as creating planning documents, tracking progress, and coordinating priorities across multiple ministries. You'll collaborate closely with the Director, ministry representatives, and Indigenous partners to ensure alignment on key initiatives and milestones. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to support various strategic initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, public administration, or a related field and 1 year of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in project management, business administration, public administration, or a related field and 2 years related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in project management or a related field and 3 years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Related experience includes the following:

  • Experience working closely with a variety of partners to lead project planning, tracking and implementation. 
  • Experience with conducting research and analysis to track, monitor and evaluate project progress, and identify and assess competing and/or conflicting priorities.
  • Experience with organizing, facilitating and presenting outcomes from meetings.


Preference may be given to: 

  • Applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)
  • Applicants with project management experience in natural resources management.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
