The Team
The Provincial Contracts team is an established group consisting of six Contract Officers who report to the Team Lead. This diverse and collaborative team works closely with internal Project Managers within the Ministry and external consultants to manage a variety of projects. The team operates through a central Provincial Contracts mailbox, ensuring efficient and equitable distribution of work. The Role
As a Contract Officer, you will work closely with Project Managers to ensure that road and bridge construction projects across BC are tendered through a fair, competitive bidding process. Your role is critical in helping secure qualified contractors, contributing directly to the development and improvement of BC’s highway network. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in government procurement while making a meaningful impact on infrastructure projects that benefit communities across the province.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary School graduation.
  • Two (2) years related experience:
    • supporting contract administration including tendering, reviewing proposals and drafting contract documentation;
    • analyzing contract terms and conditions to ensure completeness and accuracy;
    • providing support to multiple internal and external partners with competing priorities. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • Completion of post-secondary financial and/or contract administration coursework.
  • Completion of the Procurement and Contract Management Program (PCMP).
  • Contract administration experience in a public sector environment.
  • Experience with large dollar value contracts ($200,000 and above).
  • Experience using related computer software including BC Bid, RISP, CPS, CAS-Oracle, Word, Excel and other misc. software.
