Description

The Team
The established and collaborative Strategic Financial Services team consists of 6 to 8 professionals, including financial analysts, directors, senior directors, and an executive director, all working on strategic financial projects. The team supports the Ministry of Health by providing critical financial analysis and advice, contributing to the success of ministry initiatives. Our team is a key driving force behind the strategic priorities of the ministry’s service plan and our work supports health system improvements for all British Columbians.

The Role
As an Economist in Strategic Financial Services, you will lead complex economic and policy analysis projects, forecast impacts of key initiatives, and develop models to guide strategic decision-making. Your work will shape policies and programs that ensure sustainable funding and budget alignment across the health sector. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to transformative changes that support health system improvements which benefits all British Columbians. 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

•    Master’s Degree in Economics or a specialized field of economics (e.g., Economic Development, Financial Economics,) or an equivalent Master’s Degree or PhD in a closely related field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics).
•    Minimum two (2) years’ *recent, related experience. 

  *Recent related experience must be within the last five (5) years and include all of the following:
     o    Experience in leading complex statistical analysis and the design and implementation of economic modelling projects.
     o    Experience with financial database modelling and management.
     o    Experience developing financial reporting dashboards using technical tools (i.e.: Power BI).
     o    Experience developing demographic models on public sector trends.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
•    Three (3) or more years’ *recent, related experience.
•    Health sector experience.

About this Position:
Currently there is one (1) permanent opportunity available in Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
