The Team

The Licensing Division is a well-established, dynamic team responsible for issuing cannabis and liquor licenses across the province. With a focus on collaboration, equity, diversity, and inclusion, the team values good judgment, inclusivity, and trust as they navigate complex files involving local governments, Indigenous nations, law enforcement, and industry partners. The Role

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team responsible for regulating liquor and cannabis licensing, ensuring public safety while supporting business needs. You'll make impactful decisions on complex files, balancing the interests of public health, law enforcement, Indigenous nations, and industry. With a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion, you'll join a collaborative management team in a dynamic regulatory environment that provides constant learning and growth.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (i.e. Social Sciences or Law/Criminal Justice) or relevant post-secondary education.
  • Minimum 2 years leading staff or project teams.
  • Experience working directly with senior management, managing a wide range of issues including those of a sensitive or political nature and leading/developing/managing projects.
  • Experience working directly with other levels of government (federal, municipal, and/or Indigenous nations).
  • Progressively more experience in business and strategic operational planning, including the following areas:
    • Applying legislation, policies and regulations.
    • Developing processes to manage large caseloads in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
    • Effectively facilitating complex issues with highly sensitive information.
    • Working effectively with a diverse constituency.
    • Facilitating change and providing leadership to a multi-disciplinary team
  • An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.

Preference may be given to applicants who have:

  • A minimum of 1 year administrative regulatory experience.
  • 3 or more years experience leading staff or project teams.
