Description

The Team
The Business Intelligence Team is a small, close-knit group of six professionals, including a Senior Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Program Evaluation Analyst, and two Junior Data Analysts, led by the Director of Portfolio Ops and Business Transformation. This established team collaborates with business areas across road safety, external partners like ICBC, and contractors to deliver data-driven insights that support initiatives to keep our roads safe. The Role
The Data Analyst leads data analysis for programs, divisions, and medium to large-scale projects, contributing directly to the improvement of RoadSafetyBC operations. This role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge technology, influence modernization efforts, and develop advanced analytics skills, all while collaborating with internal teams and external partners. In this fast-paced position, you’ll use your expertise to shape data-driven insights that support RoadSafetyBC’s mission to keep BC roads safe, making a meaningful and lasting impact.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, GIS, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience at leveraging structured and unstructured data sources to conduct quantitative analysis.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience determining appropriate use of various problem structuring methods and statistical methods for sampling, distribution assessment, bias and error. 
  • Minimum two (2) years experience with machine learning, clustering and classification techniques to analyze diverse sources of data.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience creating and delivering  presentations for the purpose of decision making and/or disseminating information.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience with PowerBI and SQL Server.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience with Machine Learning and data related programming like Python.
  • Experience using Microsoft Fabric, Copilot, AI-powered tools that support predictive analytics and intelligent agent functionalities.

About this Position:
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
