Description

The Team
The Encampment Response Team is an established and collaborative group focused on creating person-centered solutions to complex encampment issues. This team includes a Senior Policy Analyst, two Policy Analysts, and a Project Coordinator, and works closely with analysts across the division. By coordinating cross-ministry responses and developing strategies to reduce and prevent encampments, the team plays a vital role in supporting individuals transitioning into shelter.

The Role
The Senior Policy Analyst plays a key role in shaping strategic policies to address homelessness in British Columbia. This position involves leading research, analyzing complex issues, and developing innovative policies that translate government priorities into meaningful programs and services. By recommending solutions to improve program delivery and creating person-centered approaches to encampment response, this role directly supports vulnerable populations. It offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference while advancing your expertise in both policy and operational work.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • Degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience analyzing and/or developing legislation, regulation and policy.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.


Preference may be given to applicants with/who:

  • Identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
  • Experience working with Indigenous peoples and/or on Indigenous policy and/or program development and implementation.
  • Experience leading or supporting community/stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Experience working on homelessness-related issues or issues related to vulnerable people.

About this Position:
Amendment (December 10): Posting closing date extended until December 19.
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
There is currently a temporary opportunity available until June 27, 2025, this temporary opportunity may become permanent.
