The Team
The mNPR Project Office, a branch within the Nursing Policy Secretariat at the Ministry of Health, operates with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, fostering a workplace culture that embraces celebration and fun. The team is small and established, providing centralized policy and project management support to senior executives, ensuring good governance, and overseeing implementation and communications with internal and external partners. The mNPR Project Office has been awarded the 2024 Ministry of Health STAR Award for the category of Building Strong Relationships. The mNPR initiative is a key action item under BC’s Health Human Resources Strategy, with a focus on improving nurse-to-patient ratios and the healthcare workforce. The Role
As the Senior Policy Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in advancing change management efforts for the mNPR initiative in BC. Your responsibilities will include leading or supporting partner engagement, translating complex policy into actionable tasks, and tracking progress while briefing executives on key issues and themes. You will also provide project and secretariat support across various working groups that represent system administrators, front-line nurses, unions, and other internal and external partners. Building and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships will be a key focus of the role. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking, first-in-Canada initiative aimed at benefiting nurses, patients, and the healthcare system, in alignment with the Ministry of Health's broader strategy to ensure timely, quality, and cost-effective healthcare services across British Columbia.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Health Information Sciences, Law, Labour Relations, Social Sciences (i.e., Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology), Business or in a related field AND two (2) years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Health Information Sciences, Law, Neuroscience, Labour Relations, Social Sciences (i.e., Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology), Business or in a related field AND three (3) years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Health Information Sciences, Law, Neuroscience, Labour Relations, Social Sciences (i.e., Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology), Business or in a related field AND five (5) years of progressive related experience; OR
  • Certificate or other coursework in Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Health Information Sciences, Law, Neuroscience, Labour Relations, Social Sciences (i.e., Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology), Business or in a related field AND six (6) years of progressive related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and progressive related experience may be considered.
     

Experience must include all the following:

  • Experience working on the development of policy, legislation, and/or regulation.
  • Experience in managing complex projects/assignments, including evaluation and reporting on performance.
  • Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
  • Experience requirements obtained while working in policy or programs in the public sector. 
     

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Health Information Sciences, Law, Labour Relations, Social Sciences (i.e., Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology), Business or in a related field.
  • Two (2) or more years experience working with mandate, service plan, legislation, programs and initiatives in the public sector.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 2 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
