The Team
The Criminal Investigations Unit is a dedicated team that ensures the integrity of the Ministry’s programs through thorough criminal investigations. You will be working alongside Ministry Investigators and Senior Ministry Investigators, collaborating with administrative staff to protect and uphold the integrity of these vital services. The Role
As a Major Caser File Specialist, you will act as an administrative support member to the lead investigator while they are conducting thorough investigations and special reviews of clients suspected of committing criminal offences under Ministry statutes and related Criminal Code violations. You will play a key role in ensuring that all documentation and reports are properly vetted and in formats that meet the standards required by the BC Prosecution Services. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Grade 12 graduation or equivalent, supplemented with courses in information management, OR.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a high volume processing environment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in database management, records management, organization, and management of evidentiary materials.
• Minimum 1 year of experience using tact, discretion, judgment, and professionalism in handling of sensitive and/or confidential information.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with the criminal justice system.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
• Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a high volume processing environment.
• Experience working within a legal or enforcement setting.
• Experience working within the Integrated Case Management computer platform or related Information Management platform.
• Experience in the use of SDPR’s Service Delivery Division’s (SDD) overpayment system.
Provisos /Willingness statements
• BC Driver’s licence is required
• May be required to travel alone, in remote areas throughout the province, under a variety of road/weather conditions, often without cellular contact. Overnight absences and the use of own vehicle may be required, where a government vehicle is not available, to conduct investigations and/or gather evidence.
• Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position).

About this Position:
Currently there are two (2) permanent opportunities available.
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
