The Team
The Digital Workplace and Collaboration Services Branch (DWCS) is an established team of 87 dedicated professionals responsible for implementing high-quality tools to support a modern digital workplace. By delivering employee-ready tools and supports, DWCS enables and empowers all B.C. Public Service employees to deliver services to the citizens of B.C. DWCS is focused on providing simple, accessible, and approachable solutions to employees; by delivering the information and resources they need to access and use digital tools and services.
The Digital Workplace Operations team is dedicated to delivering and maintaining essential communication and collaboration tools for the BC Public Service, including Microsoft Teams, Hosted Voice services, and Teams meeting rooms. Their primary focus is on ensuring these services are provided efficiently and effectively while monitoring performance, managing incidents, and driving continuous service improvements. This unit comprises several key functions: Tier 2 Order and Incident Management, Tier 3 Technical Support, Service Management, Consulting, and Contact Centre Services. Together, they ensure seamless operations and support for a connected digital workplace.
The Role
The Manager, Digital Workplace Operations, is focused on providing strategic direction and leadership over the delivery of critical unified communication services (i.e. Microsoft Teams) to the BC Public Service. In this role, the Manager is responsible for establishing the vision and goals of the unified communication products and empowering the product teams in their continuous develop and delivery of services through agile methodology. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- An equivalent combination of education, training and *related experience may be considered:
- A degree in business administration, public administration, leadership, Information Technology and/or Information Management, or a related field, and a minimum three (3) years of *related experience in similar roles; OR,
- A diploma in business administration, public administration, leadership, Information Technology and/or Information Management, or a related field, and a minimum four (4) years of *related experience in similar roles; OR,
- A certification in business administration, public administration, leadership, Information Technology and/or Information Management, or a related field, and a minimum five (5) years of *related experience in similar roles; OR,
- Secondary School graduation and six (6) years of *related experience in similar roles.
- *Related experience must include the minimum number of years of experience for each of the following requirements corresponding to the education listed above:
- Experience establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with clients/ partners.
- Leading, mentoring and supervising multi-disciplinary operational staff.
- Strategic planning and product delivery strategy.
- Current and progressive experience in leadership roles identifying and understanding product/ service issues, processes and outcomes, and product/service implications of decisions that impact clients/ partners.
- Experience working in an IM/IT area/ initiative.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an agile methodology environment focused on the planning, design, testing and implementation of digital products and/or services.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Experience leading teams through change.
- Three (3) years of experience in a leadership capacity, accountable for one or more technical IM/IT functions in a large-scale organization.
