The Team
The Transportation Regulation Unit is part of the established Clean Transportation Branch, which leads innovative policies and programs to decarbonize BC's transportation sector and support the growth of the clean transportation industry. The Unit is a diverse team of approximately 12 staff working within a Branch of about 35 professionals, including policy analysts, senior policy advisors, managers, and directors, led by the executive director. Together, they set BC's strategic direction for transportation energy, creating meaningful impacts on environmental sustainability and economic growth. The team values collaboration and equity, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute to shaping a cleaner, greener future for the province.
The Role
As a Senior Policy Advisor with the Transportation Regulation Unit, you will provide expert economic advice to government executives on strategic decisions that shape the future of BC’s transportation and clean technology industries. Your work will drive the development and implementation of innovative legislation and programs, directly contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing clean transportation in the province. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or closely related field such as statistics, commerce, or mathematics, or equivalent (e.g. science that includes economic or statistical modeling).
- Minimum three years’ experience conducting and leading major and complex economic studies, research projects and policy projects.
- Education or work experience directly related to energy policy or clean transportation (specifically zero-emission vehicles and infrastructure).
- Experience working collaboratively and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Preference may be given to applicants who have:
- A Master’s Degree in Economics or closely related field such as statistics, commerce, or mathematics, or equivalent (e.g. science that includes economic or statistical modeling).
- Five or more years’ experience conducting and leading major and complex economic studies, research projects and policy projects.
- Experience with policy and legislation.
- Experience in project management and/or contract management.
- Experience supervising a team of staff including assignment and evaluation of work.
- Experience providing briefings to senior management.

About this Position:
Two (2) Positions available.
There are two temporary appointments available: one for 12 months, ending on December 31, 2025, and another for 18 months, ending on June 5, 2026. These position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
