Description

The Team
The Operations Section of the Mineral, Oil and Gas Revenue Branch is an established, collaborative team focused on supporting the branch's program delivery. As a Manager, Operations, you will lead a team of 9 staff, including 3 direct reports and 6 indirect, consisting of diverse roles such as policy analysts, financial analysts, and office management. This team works closely with various internal and external partners, including the Executive Director, corporate offices, and government ministries, to ensure seamless operations and effective program delivery, all while maintaining a strong focus on professionalism and service quality.

The Role
The Manager, Operations role provides essential administrative and operational support to the Audit and Programs sections of the branch. This includes a range of responsibilities such as policy and legislative interpretation and development, financial and budget reporting, data analysis, contract management, and office administration. The work directly impacts the efficiency and quality of program delivery, enhancing the responsiveness and professionalism of the branch, which in turn supports citizens and stakeholders. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in business, political science, accounting or public admin OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years' experience supervising staff.
  • Three years' experience with the BC Government corporate accounting system and revenue management policies.
  • Three years' experience in policy and legislative interpretation and/or development.
  • Three years' experience managing a portfolio of projects and clients in a customer service environment.
  • Three years' experience leading and resolving complex staff and/or client issues.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • Experience with accounting in the natural resource sector.
  • Experience in tax/royalty administration.
  • Additional years in the above education and/or experience.
