The Team
The established Surrey Provincial Court Clerk team is one of the largest in the region with around 35 dedicated staff. You'll work closely with a court supervisor and manager, supporting and mentoring clerks while collaborating with the registry, judiciary, defense, and crown. Our team’s strong partnerships with these key stakeholders enhance our effectiveness and ensure a smooth operation in a busy provincial court environment.
The Role
As the In-Court Supervisor, you will lead and mentor a team of over 30 Court Clerks, managing their performance, leave, and scheduling while ensuring effective courtroom staffing. You will be responsible for assigning clerks to specific courtrooms, handling workload allocation, and coordinating with other registries to meet operational needs. Your role also involves overseeing quality assurance, chairing meetings, and resolving technical issues, all while ensuring staff are informed about policy changes and maintaining accurate financial records for invoices and equipment. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a legal environment or two (2) years’ experience working in Court Administration.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ recent experience as a Court Clerk at the Supreme and/or Provincial Court level.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, database, spreadsheet, internet and other standard computer applications.
• A combination of relevant experience, education and training will be considered when assessing required qualifications.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
• Completed courses in business or public administration.
• Experience as a Court Clerk and/or Registry Clerk.
• Recent (within the last six (6) years) supervisory experience.
• Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, CCD, ARC, CTAS).
• Experience delivering Court Clerk training.

• Must pass enhanced security screening check.
• May be required to work flexible hours including varied shifts and overtime on short notice.
• May be required to work in other areas of Court Services Branch.
• May be required to travel.
• Able to lift heavy objects up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
