Description

The Team 

The Financial Operations & Procurement Team is a newly established group within the Ministry of Infrastructure. We provide financial oversight and lead strategic purchasing to ensure infrastructure investments deliver strong public value. The team consists of seven employees with diverse areas of focus including procurement, financial analysis, and operational support. We work closely with budgeting, capital finance, and internal partners on high-profile projects across B.C. Our culture is collaborative and focused on continuous improvement, with visible impact on ministry-wide initiatives. 

The Role 

This role supports the Ministry’s capital program by managing day-to-day financial transactions—such as journal vouchers, invoices, reallocations, and contract payments—while maintaining tracking tools and ensuring alignment with the Corporate Financial System. It also contributes to financial policy, internal controls, and records management. The work helps deliver critical infrastructure like schools, hospitals, and long-term care facilities on time and on budget, directly benefiting communities across B.C. With opportunities to improve processes and contribute to high-impact initiatives, this position offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution to public service in communities across B.C. 


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Certificate or coursework and six (6) months of experience in accounting and/or budgeting; OR
  • Secondary school graduation (Dogwood, GED) and one (1) year of experience in accounting and/or budgeting; OR
  • Evergreen and two (2) years of experience in accounting and/or budgeting; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry. (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position.)

Preference may be given to candidates with the required combination of education and experience and:

  • Experience working with the Corporate Financial System (CFS/CAS).
  • Experience working with the Corporate Signing Authority System (CSAS).
  • Experience with preparing and recording journal vouchers, invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Related experience gained in a public service or government environment.
