The Cloud Security Operations team is a small but growing group within the broader Security Operations unit, playing a key role in protecting the Province of British Columbia’s cloud environments. The Role
This role focuses on enhancing cloud security for the Province of B.C., with a specific emphasis on Azure permissions and role-based access. You'll be part of a supportive, flexible team working to ensure government cloud systems are secure—helping protect the data and services relied on by British Columbians every day. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Degree, diploma, certification or equivalent combination of education and experience in the computer science or data networking field.
- 5 years experience working at a senior technical analyst level in a large network environment.
- Experience managing large scale security infrastructure projects, preference may be given to applicants
with 3 years of project management experience.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Professional designation as a Certified Information Systems
Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). - Experience with Cloud Access and Permission design in AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle
o Experience with common cloud services (Databases, Containers, Compute, Storage, Serverless
etc.), and in SIEM components (MS Sentinel, OpenSearch, CloudWatch, CloudTrail ), Key
Management, configuring network security defenses, PKI, revere-proxies, ALB, NLB, Modern
Authentication technologies, Cloud Asset Management, DLP, IDS, WAF, Secrets Management
and IAM; - Hands on experience with DevOps tools such as Terraform, Vault, ArgoCD. Ansible, etc.
- Experience with CI/CD and code management tools (Git, TFS, Jenkins etc.)
- UNIX platform administration and scripting
- Windows Directory services
- Knowledge of Cloud environments such as Azure or AWS
- IT security architecture or service development
- IT or Security Vendor Certifications
Provisos:
- Perform duties after hours and/or on weekends on occasion. This role may require the occasional shift
work.
