Description

The Team
As a small non-partisan office within the Office of the Premier, Cabinet Operations works with ministries to ensure the quality of advice and information presented to Cabinet is timely and of high quality. Cabinet Operations manages the Order in Council (OIC) process, helps develop government’s legislative agenda, and supports the continuity of government operations during transition periods such as elections and government reorganizations.

The Role
The Order in Council Coordinator works extensively with staff from all levels of government. This includes a team of Directors and Executive Directors within Cabinet Operations and a significant cross-government network of staff in legislative and policy branches, Deputy Ministers’ Offices, Ministers’ Offices, Office of Legislative Counsel and GCPE. The Order in Council Coordinator manages a high volume and wide range of OICs at any given time and ensures these OICs are prepared correctly, receive all necessary reviews and approvals, are processed accurately after approval and are coordinated with government announcements where necessary. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma in office administration or related field and a minimum of two years experience in office administration; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. This experience must include a minimum of one year of recent experience working in administrative or program support.
  • Experience working directly with highly confidential and time sensitive information.
  • Experience tracking the progress of a high volume of initiatives and ensuring established criteria are met for their completion.
  • Experience managing competing priorities often with tight and/or urgent deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience for attention to detail, and proofreading for consistency and accuracy.
  • Experience working with new technologies, software, computer systems and formats.
     

Proviso

  • The duties of this position require a flexible schedule and may include working in the evenings or on the weekends to attend to urgent items.

About this Position:
This position is excluded from union membership.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 2 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
