Description
The Team
The Nanaimo Indigenous Child and Youth Mental Health team is a dedicated group of four clinicians and two outreach workers. The Nanaimo Indigenous Child and Youth Mental Health team provide compassionate, culturally grounded mental health services that honor and integrate Indigenous traditions, values, and healing practices.
The Role
The Team Leader oversees Clinical and Outreach staff within one of Nanaimo’s CYMH teams, providing supervision, managing intake and waitlists, and supporting service delivery through integrated case management and community collaboration. With a strong focus on Indigenous service approaches, the role also includes guiding staff on policy interpretation and managing contracts to ensure effective outcomes.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Masters Degree in Social Work (Clinical Specialty or equivalent training/education), Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or equivalent.
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Experience in the provision of mental health services to children, youth and their families.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s licence with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- One (1) or more years in the provision of Mental Health services from an Indigenous perspective to children, youth and their families.
- Six or more months of experience leading staff in a supervisory capacity.
- Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
Currently there is one (1) temporary appointment that ends May 31st, 2027 that may extend or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established for future and temporary opportunities.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
