The Team
As part of the Community and Employer Initiatives Branch, the newly formed Employability Planning Service team is dedicated to helping British Columbians improve their employability through holistic assessment and planning. Employment Specialists conduct employability assessments, develop personalized employment plans, and support individuals in meeting their employment obligations. This team works closely with employment and community service providers to create inclusive, accessible pathways to employment, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to succeed.
The Role
The Employment Specialist conducts comprehensive assessments and collaborates with clients receiving income and disability assistance to develop personalized Employability Plans, ensuring they meet employment obligations and enhance their readiness for the labor market. Through strong community partnerships and a strengths-based coaching approach, the Specialist facilitates access to employment services and resources, fostering accountability and progress toward sustainable employment.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Post-Secondary Certificate, Degree or Diploma in a related field (e.g., career or employment development, human services, health, social services, etc.), and 1 year of *related experience; OR
- Secondary school completion or equivalent and 5 years of *related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
*Related experience must include the following:
- Experience working with people who may be experiencing homelessness, trauma, mental illness and/or substance abuse issues.
- Experience providing direct client service (in-person or virtual).
- Experience coaching people towards goals.
- Experience working with community organizations and/or with multiple service providers.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Experience in employment counselling / job coaching.
- Experience using the ICM (Integrated Case Management) System.
PROVISO
- May require the use of de-escalation techniques to manage some situations.
- Periodic travel may be required to meet with clients and attend meetings.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
