The Team
MCFD’s community-based Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team is a dedicated group of experienced clinicians, including full-time and part-time professionals, an outreach support worker, and a supportive team leader. The Role
This position will be with the CYMH Provincial Services Branch and the Provincial Deaf and Hard of Hearing Branch. This position will provide clinical services for children, youth, and families through a virtual platform, assisting CYMH service delivery. The CYMH Clinician’s primary responsibility will be supporting communities with intakes, waitlist management and support to children, youth and families as well as brief therapy virtually. They will work in flexible ways and build partnerships with local CYMH teams and local communities to support multiple children and families accessing virtual services. The CYMH Clinician will also work through consultation with local CYMH teams to build and maintain relationships to support coordinated services and positive outcomes for children, youth, and families in their communities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of 1 year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of mental health services. 
  • One or more years experience (gained in the last three years) delivering virtual services for children and youth and their parents in a mental health setting.
  • One or more years experience (gained in the last three years) working with parents around issues related to parenting children and youth with complex mental health presentations.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Three or more years experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Experience utilizing Dialectical/Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (DBT/CBT) and Emotion Focused-Family Therapy (EFFT), gained in the last three years.
  • Training and experience in working with high-risk populations. 
  • Applicants who self-identify as having an Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO APPLICANTS

  • Up to a maximum of $3,000 annual lump sum payment to regular permanent full-time Social Program Officers placed in the SPO Growth Series (SPO Growth to SPO R24 classifications) **


*Full payment of the incentive is based on regular eligible classifications (SPO R18 to SPO R30) working in an approved location for the full fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). A pro-rated incentive payment may be provided to candidates who work a partial year and/or part-time hours.
