Description

The Team
Specialized Provincial Services (SPS) operates within the Provincial Centralized Services Centre Branch (PCSC), under the Service Delivery Division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. SPS is a service-oriented operation tasked with overseeing the Province's management of financial and human resources across various programs, including the Autism Funding Program, At Home Medical Benefits Program, Strengthening Abilities and Journeys of Empowerment (SAJE) supports, Autism Information Services (AIS) BC, Children in Care Benefits Program, Service Provider and Client Portal Support Program, and Provincial Services Accounts.

The Role
The Director position will be leading and overseeing these services and programs noted above. Key responsibilities include designing strategies to meet client needs, supervising staff, managing financial resources, and ensuring service standards are upheld. The position also focuses on fostering relationships with external partners, advocating for client services, leading projects, policy implementation, and business process improvements. Additionally, the role involves managing contracts, briefing leadership on strategic issues, and ensuring collaboration across various service areas and ministries. 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in any of the following areas: Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Counselling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology and Nursing or an equivalent field of study.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must request a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report to be considered for this competition.
  • Five (5) years of experience leading a social service-based program/operation, including the determination of goals, objectives, and performance measures.
  • Three (3) years of experience managing a portfolio of clients in a customer service environment including responding to and resolving complex client issues.
  • Two (2) years of experience in managing projects and delivering results.
  • Two (2) years of experience in managing relationships with contracted agencies and stakeholders, including clinical professionals from a variety of health or related disciplines.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the application of general finance and administration policies and processes, financial reporting, and financial systems and controls.
  • Two (2) years of experience in general contract management policies and processes.
  • Must be currently delegated or immediately eligible to obtain delegation under the CFCSA.


Preference may be given to those with:

  • Experience (either permanent or acting) as a Director.

  • May be required to work evenings/weekends.
  • May be required to use own vehicle on an expense account basis.
  • Must be willing to travel periodically for provincial meetings.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until December 31, 2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
