The Team
The BC Review Board Registry team is a well-established group made up of key roles, including Hearing Administrators, a Scheduling team, Intake & Application Coordinator, Procedures Analyst and an Evidence and Records Coordinator, all supported by a Deputy Registrar and Registrar. The team is collaborative and works closely with Parties to the proceedings to ensure fair and efficient processes. The Role
Join a team dedicated to excellence and innovation! The British Columbia Review Board is a specialized statutory tribunal established by the Criminal Code of Canada. Public safety is the paramount concern for the Board. The Orders and Reasons Coordinator is responsible for editing reasons for judgment prior to distribution, in accordance with the BC Review Board procedures. As part of the editing and review process, the position fact-checks reasons for judgment for accuracy of evidence (personal, psychiatric, and criminal history) and accurate references to applicable legislation and case law. This role is responsible for producing and distributing various legal documents, such as, warrants, extended and amended orders, assessment orders, subpoenas, Inquiries Act orders, and stay inquiry documentation; fact-checking, editing and distributing reasons; and managing and distributing orders and reasons in accordance with internal policies and legislative requirements of Part XX.1 of the Criminal Code. The successful applicant will be working in a small office environment that provides an opportunity to be part of a team and gain experience in various administrative roles and responsibilities.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration or related field AND one (1) year of related experience; OR
- Diploma in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration or related field AND two (2) years of related experience.
Related experience must include the following:
- Experience proofreading, drafting, and editing a wide variety of written and electronic documents.
- Clerical/administrative support experience.
- Experience in an administrative role in a legal, tribunal or board environment.
- Experience with Databases, Windows, Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, OneNote and Outlook.
- Experience providing client or customer service.
- Experience applying legislation and regulations.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Knowledge of documentation management and file organization.
- Typing, editing and proofreading skills including knowledge of English grammar, style and syntax.
- Ability to efficiently communicate across multiple channels.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and multi-task.
- Strong organizational, inter-personal and communication skills.
- Maturity, tact, diplomacy and sound judgment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Additional years of experience with formal writing and editing.
- 1 year or more experience writing, proofreading, and editing for senior level or executive staff.
- Experience researching and analyzing information.
- Experience with the Criminal Code of Canada XX.I and the Board’s Rules and Procedures Governing the Review Board Process.
About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until approximately April 2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
