Description

The Team
The Governance, Legislation and Engagement Division leads the ministry’s work on Indigenous post-secondary education policy, engagement and implementing the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.

The Role
The Executive Director provides leadership to shape policies and programs that support a high-quality, inclusive post-secondary education system that meets the needs of Indigenous learners and communities. This role builds strong, respectful partnerships with Indigenous and post-secondary partners, helping to remove barriers and promote reconciliation through meaningful action. With a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion, the Executive Director ensures Indigenous voices are central to decision-making and system-wide improvements.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g. social sciences, education, public administration or law); AND
  • A minimum of 5 years of *recent  (within the last 2 years), related experience in a senior management capacity; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


*Recent (within the last 2 years) related experience in a senior management capacity must include each of the following:

  • Experience leading strategic public and stakeholder engagement priorities in the public sector.
  • Experience developing and implementing policies using a collaborative, team-based approach.
  • Experience dealing with politically sensitive and provincially significant issues.
  • Experience leading, coaching, mentoring and supervising staff; including directing a diverse workgroup of employees including goal setting, performance management and succession planning.
  • Experience working in partnership with Indigenous governments, communities and/or organizations.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience in the post-secondary education sector.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations and communities.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous.

About this Position:
Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
