The Team:
The Policy & Product Development Team is an established group of professionals based mainly in the Kelowna Head Office, including agrologists, technical specialists, and management staff. This collaborative team plays a key role in supporting agricultural risk management programs across B.C. through inter-jurisdictional negotiations, industry consultation, and the development of insurance products. Team members regularly work with regional operations, administration, and other ministry policy staff, helping to create inclusive and responsive programs that meet the diverse needs of producers across the province. We value a range of perspectives and experiences to ensure our work reflects the communities we serve.
The Role:
As a Production Insurance Specialist, you’ll play a key role in supporting the long-term sustainability of B.C.’s agriculture sector. This role involves testing and evaluating yield and premium models, identifying issues, and recommending improvements to ensure the fairness and accuracy of AgriInsurance coverage. By aligning with industry and applying your expertise in risk and productivity, your work will directly impact the support available to B.C. agricultural producers. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in a related field such as Agriculture or a related science, Economics, or Business, AND at least three years’ experience conducting statistical analysis utilizing spreadsheet and database applications to evaluate data and draw conclusions for business decisions from large volumes of complex data. Experience with database queries is preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- At least three year’s experience in the Canadian agriculture sector as an analyst, producer, advisor or product representative.
- At least three year’s experience managing projects of moderate to high complexity, broad scope, with multiple deliverables and with various and divergent stakeholder interests.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining cooperative and productive relationships and effectively liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
Preference May be Given to Applicants with:
- Experience participating in inter-governmental projects or initiatives.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
