The Team

The Role
This leadership role oversees a team that provides essential legal support to Crown Counsel on serious and complex prosecution files. The work is fast-paced and high-profile, requiring strong organization, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to ensure legal case files are prepared accurately and on time. The team values inclusion, respect, and diverse perspectives, recognizing that a supportive and equitable work environment strengthens both their work and the justice system they serve.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent (within the last 5 years) experience working as a Legal Assistant (or equivalent) for the BC Prosecution Service (or equivalent).
  • Experience leading teams or supervising staff, which may include allocation of work, performance appraisals, peer-to-peer training, etc.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Successful completion of a Legal Assistant or Paralegal certificate.
  • More than 2 years of recent (within the last 5 years) experience working as a Legal Assistant (or equivalent) for the BC Prosecution Service (or equivalent).
  • Recent experience (within the last 18 months) working for the BC Prosecution Service.
  • At least 1 year of experience leading teams or supervising staff, which may include allocation of work, performance appraisals, peer-to-peer training, etc.
  • Experience leading teams or supervising staff within the BC Prosecution Service, which may include allocation of work, performance appraisals, peer-to-peer training, etc.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
