The Team
As a part of BC Corrections, the Community Corrections Division is responsible for the supervision and support of approximately 18,000 people subject to court imposed community supervision orders. We are an organization of change leaders, where all staff support our clients to make pro-social choices and achieve better outcomes for themselves and those around them. Our staff believe everyone has the capacity to make positive changes in their lives. Community Corrections staff report a high degree of job satisfaction and value community safety, teamwork and working in collaboration with their peers, supervisors and community and justice partners. At the Victoria Probation Office, we are a dedicated team of 21 professionals, consisting of 14 probation officers, 2 senior probation officers, 2 administrative assistants, 1 office manager and 1 local manager. We pride ourselves on being a close-knit team, working collaboratively to deliver seamless support to our clients and partners within the criminal justice system, all while valuing community safety.

The Role
As part of a dynamic community corrections office and under the guidance of the Office Manager, this role provides a range of confidential administrative and frontline reception services. You will support the team by managing electronic records and files, entering data into key systems, all while helping ensure the smooth and professional operation of the office.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary School graduation and six (6) months of related experience working in a clerical, secretarial, receptionist or administrative support role;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Minimum keyboard speed of 30 words per minute.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • More than six (6) months of related experience working in a clerical, secretarial, receptionist or administrative support role;
  • Completion of a post-secondary certificate, program or course in office administration;
  • Experience working in an office setting providing services within the Justice System (Court Services, Correctional Centre, BC Prosecution Services, Youth Justice, legal office, justice focused non-profit);
  • Demonstrated experience in roles involving interaction with vulnerable, high-risk or hostile individuals.

This is a temporary opportunity until December 31, 2025. This position may be extended.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
