The Team
The Pay Transparency Unit is a talented team of four with diverse skill sets who support B.C. employers to meet their obligations under the Pay Transparency Act. The Unit receives and responds to enquiries by employers and employees, develops and delivers accessible guidance materials, resources, webinars and training for employers, monitors and tracks compliance, and collaborates with policy and research staff to produce annual reports and review the effectiveness of the Act.
The Role
The Director of Operations is responsible for leading the Pay Transparency unit for the ongoing implementation of the Pay Transparency Act. The position will lead all aspects of this service-based operation, including the control of financial and human resources, and the establishment and maintenance of positive relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders. As a senior leader at the Gender Equity Office, the Director is also relied upon to lead a range of additional operational and strategic priorities that advance gender equity.
Qualifications:
• University degree, Master’s preferred, in public administration, economics, statistics, social sciences, communications, gender equity or a closely related field.
• Minimum three (3) years experience implementing operational strategies, systems or supports to meet legislated requirements in a public sector environment.
• Minimum three (3) years experience leading and resolving multifaceted issues with clients, stakeholders and Indigenous partners.
• Minimum three (3) years experience directing the work of internal and external colleagues, contractors and others to implement complex projects.
• Minimum three (3) years writing briefing materials for senior decision makers and delivering presentations for diverse audiences.
• Equivalent combination of related experience, education, and training may be considered.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
• Master’s degree in public administration, economics, statistics, social sciences, communications, gender equity or a closely related field
• Experience working on gender equity issues, especially those faced by women and gender diverse people who self identify as Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or people with disabilities.
• Demonstrated experience in public education, particularly reaching and engaging key stakeholders and partners through the development of resources and engagement tools

About this Position:
This position is based in Victoria or Vancouver.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) and Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
