The Team:
The Strategic Initiatives team is an established and dynamic group within the Employment and Labour Market Services Division. This team is currently composed of permanent staff and several temporary employees brought on to support a significant modernization project. Working across all levels of the organization, the team collaborates with various roles to redesign and improve employment services across the province. The impact of their work is far-reaching, contributing directly to how British Columbians access job search support, skills training, and employment opportunities. Team members are appreciated for their collaborative spirit, adaptability, and commitment to driving meaningful change for citizens.
The Role:
This role involves managing multiple high-impact programs or ministry-wide projects within the Strategic Initiatives team. The successful candidate will lead project teams of more than five staff, oversee project lifecycles, provide regular progress updates to leadership, and evaluate outcomes post-implementation. The work directly benefits British Columbians by helping modernize and improve access to employment services. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of related experience; OR
- Diploma and 3 years related experience; OR
- Certificate or coursework and 4 years related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related Experience must include:
- Experience independently managing medium to large scale projects.
- Experience directing the work of others (professional employees and/or consultants).
Preferences may be given to applicants with:
- Preference may be given to holders of Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification.
- Preference may be given to those who hold, or are qualified to complete within 6 months of commencement of the position, Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 5 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
There is currently a temporary opportunity available until February 28, 2026.
