The Team
The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) contributes to the protection of society by preparing for and conducting criminal prosecutions at all levels of court. The BCPS also advises police and government on criminal law matters across the province. This position is part of the Policy & Justice Issues team at BCPS Headquarters. The Policy & Justice Issues team is responsible for developing and implementing legal policies, practices, protocols and procedures for the BCPS and advising government on criminal law and related matters.
The Role
Independent from the Information Access Operations (IAO) unit, the Senior Information & Privacy Analyst plays a critical role in managing information and privacy for the BCPS. This position provides non-legal advice and assists with the administration of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) for the BCPS. This position responds directly to complex and sensitive Freedom of Information requests, develops BCPS-specific policies and procedures, and provides expert advice to Crown Counsel and BCPS professional staff. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with FOIPPA, protecting privacy, and supporting transparency and accountability within the justice system.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in Information Management, Public Administration or other directly-related discipline and 3 years of experience; OR
- Diploma in Information Management, Public Administration or other directly-related discipline and 4 years of experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
Recent and related experience includes:
- Experience interpreting and administering FOI legislation and providing advice on policy, procedures and guidelines.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience with records management.
- Experience in negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution.
- Experience drafting business correspondence, providing briefings to senior management and executive.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience interpreting and administering FOI legislation.
- Formal coursework in project management
- Experience in the criminal justice system.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
