The Team
The Ministry of Children and Family Development is dedicated to enhancing the capacity of families and communities to nurture and safeguard vulnerable children and youth. It actively promotes healthy child and family development to ensure that every child in British Columbia is supported in realizing their full potential. The Ministry holds responsibility for the delivery of services and programs at both regional and provincial levels, with a focus on fostering positive and sustainable outcomes for children, youth, and their families.
The Role
This position primarily provides day-to-day program support within a social services office setting. Reporting to an Office Manager or Administrative Supervisor, the Team Assistant receives ongoing direction from social worker team leads, social workers, and social worker assistants. Serving as the initial point of contact for client intake, the role requires comprehensive program knowledge to effectively support specialized areas such as mental health, child protection, guardianship, adoption, or other related services. The position may be dedicated to a specific program or provide support across multiple program areas, depending on operational needs.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
- One year of administrative support experience in an office environment.
- Six months experience working in a computerized environment using various computer applications and data bases, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, MS Teams, Outlook, Lync) for word processing, spread sheeting, data entry, email and video teleconferencing; and case management or other database applications. Consideration may be given for completion of an Administrative Business Skills course or program as experience equivalency.
- Experience providing quality customer or client service, carrying out duties and responding to client needs in a professional manner.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and as a team member with a multi-disciplinary environment and with other professional staff, client and service providers.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Administrative experience working with vulnerable children and families in a human/social services setting.
- Experience using MCFD applications: Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer applications.
