The Team
The Legislation Unit is a collaborative team that brings together policy experts, legal partners, and ministry staff to develop legislation that supports an accessible and future-focused post-secondary system. The team values diverse perspectives and works closely with Indigenous partners and professionals across the sector to ensure legislation is inclusive, responsive, and aligned with the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. The Role
This role leads the research, development, and processing of legislation and policy, ensuring they move through each stage smoothly and are implemented effectively. It involves creating policy frameworks that support government priorities and help shape programs that meet the diverse needs of people and communities. The position also provides senior leaders with thoughtful, inclusive advice to support decision-making and promote equitable, informed outcomes across government.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area AND 2 years of *related experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area AND 3 years of *related experience; OR
  • Diploma in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area AND 4 years of *related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area AND 5 years of *related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


*Related experience must include:

  • Experience in the development of legislation, regulation, and policy.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
  • Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience leading/facilitating consultations with business partners.
  • Experience providing advice and recommendations to senior officials.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
