The Team
Vancouver Provincial Court is the largest criminal court in the Vancouver Coastal Region and is responsible for the delivery of all court administration for criminal matters in Vancouver/Burnaby and includes the Bella Bella, Bella Coola and Klemtu circuit court. Downtown Community Court has pioneered the innovative approach that brings together justice, health and social services in one location. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual who exemplifies the professional values of the BC Public Service, to join our team and provide administrative and technical support to the Court registry as a Court Clerk. Working alongside 25+ Court Clerks and reporting to two In-Court Supervisors, and the Manager of Operations (In-Court), you will provide technical and administrative support for court proceedings and liaise with Court Registry staff, the judiciary, justice partners, and the general public. The role performs essential duties such as managing technology in the courtroom, effectively recording the proceedings, completing accurate data entry and processing documents both in and out of court.

The Role
This role provides essential court clerk services and administrative support to ensure court proceedings run smoothly and fairly. You will prepare and review court documents, record proceedings, and manage exhibits with care and accuracy, while working closely with the Judiciary, legal professionals, justice partners, and the public. With a focus on respectful communication and inclusive service, this position helps create a courtroom environment where everyone feels supported and treated equitably.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working in an office environment; OR 2 years combination of customer service, clerical duties, office experience and education.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Minimum of 40 words per minute (WPM) in keyboarding.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
  • Experience with delivering Customer Service.
  • Experience as a court clerk and/or registry clerk.
  • 1 year of previous work experience in a legal environment.
