The Team
The Strategic Policy and Legislation Branch leads transportation-related policy and legislative initiatives, including projects to advance innovative and integrated transportation systems and solutions that support people movement and mode shift to active and clean transportation. Working with other Ministry branches, partner organizations and provincial and federal agencies, the Branch develops key public transportation policies, legislation and projects that align with government priorities and the Ministry strategic plan.
The Role
Key duties of the Manager, Policy & Legislation include developing and executing project plans, researching and writing materials to support policy and legislative development processes, providing recommendations and advice to decision makers and building effective working relationships within the Branch, across the Ministry, and with stakeholders. Supported by a team of two FTEs, the Manager, Policy & Legislation plays a critical role developing innovative transportation solutions with far-ranging impacts for road users.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management, or related field.
• Three (3) years of related experience that must include:
- Leading policy and legislative initiatives in a government context;
- Managing stakeholder relations and consultative processes;
- Making recommendations to senior management and/or decision makers.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
• Experience working with the Motor Vehicle Act.
• Experience working with the Commercial Transport Act.
• Experience managing staff.
• Experience in financial and contract management.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
