The Team
The Special Investigations Unit is an established team of Special Provincial Constables dedicated to investigating suspected fraud against Ministry programs, working closely with auditors, police, medical professionals, and justice system partners. Comprised of a Senior Director, Senior Investigators, and Major Case File Specialists, the team plays a critical role in protecting the integrity of the health care system and ensuring public trust through thorough, collaborative investigations.

The Role
The Major Case File Specialist supports complex fraud investigations by managing and analyzing large volumes of information, evidence, and intelligence in collaboration with investigators and external partners. This role is critical to ensuring thorough, well-documented investigations that protect the integrity of Ministry programs and the health care system.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in administrative law, investigation, enforcement, criminology, or in a related field; and one (1) year of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in administrative law, investigation, enforcement, criminology, or in a related field and two (2) years of related experience; OR
  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent and three (3) years of related experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Related experience must include the following:

  • Experience working in a high-volume processing environment.
  • Experience in database management, records management, organization, and management of evidentiary materials.
  • Experience using tact, discretion, judgement, and professionalism in handling of sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Experience working with the criminal justice system.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in a high-volume processing environment, within a legal or enforcement setting.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit).

Provisos /Willingness statement(s):

  • May be required to travel in remote areas throughout the province, under a variety of road/weather conditions, often without cellular contact. Overnight absences and the use of own vehicle may be required, where a government vehicle is not available, to assist in investigations and/or gather evidence.

About this Position:
Currently there are two (2) permanent opportunities.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
