The Team
You will join the Mountain Resorts Branch within the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport where you work to support the sustainable development of all-seasons resorts across British Columbia. Guided by the BC Resort Strategy and the All-Season Resort Policy, the Branch works to set strategic direction, lead land use and forestry decisions, environmental assessments, and business case assessments related to new and existing resort development. The Branch works with many partners across government and leads engagement and consultation with First Nations, local governments, stakeholders and the public related to all-seasons resorts.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Major Projects, you will provide expert advice on policy, business development, and strategic issues impacting the resort sector and ski industry throughout the province. You will lead and contribute to complex policy analysis, business improvement and research initiatives, working collaboratively across the Branch and government to identify gaps, develop options, and recommend solutions that support the Branch’s mandate and provincial priorities.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, public administration, social or natural resource field and three (3) years of related experience; OR
- A degree in an unrelated field and five (5) years of related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.
Related experience includes the following:
- Experience in the development of new or amended legislation, regulation, and/or strategic or operational policy in the public interest.
- Experience conducting provincial research, financial/economic analysis, business analysis or program evaluation with new or existing data.
- Experience in planning and managing complex projects/assignments.
- Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
- Experience working with a ministry mandate, service plan, legislation, programs, and/or initiatives.
Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
- Experience working in natural resource management, the resort sector, outdoor recreation, and/or the tourism industry.
- Experience in analysis of business processes and developing recommendations and options for business improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing project teams, and working effectively with others within the context of networks and collaborative initiatives

About this Position:
Amendment (January 29): Posting closing date extended to February 9, 2026.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to a couple days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
