Description

The Team
The Port Alberni Pacific Rim Child and Youth Mental Health team is an established multi-disciplinary group of professionals who value diversity, professionalism, ongoing professional development, and collaborative planning.  As a team they work well together to foster a collaborate team environment that strengthens and supports positive group dynamics.  The team works collaboratively with Ministry programs and community partners to support children and youth facing mental health challenges by offering supports with assessment, early intervention, group services, family therapies, and individualized treatment. 

The Role
You will lead by providing clinical and administrative supervision, direction, and strategic leadership to 6 professional Mental Health service providers. You will contribute to developing and implementing plans, to manage, and evaluate the delivery of mental health services for children, youth, and families in the local community to ensure that team is meeting program goals and deliverables. In this role you will collaborate and build partnerships with other ministry programs, Indigenous partners, community agencies, hospitals and schools. The team is a key partner in the Integrated Child and Youth Mental Health Program and contributes enhances the opportunity for children, youth, and their families to navigate change and recovery with confidence.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Social Work (Clinical Specialty or equivalent training/education), Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or equivalent.
  • Experience in the provision of mental health services to children, youth and their families.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  •  Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s licence with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with following:

  • Three or more years of in the provision of mental health services to children, youth and their families.
  • Six or more months of experience leading staff in a supervisory capacity.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

PROVISOS/WILLINGNESS STATEMENTS

  • May be required to work evening/weekends.
  • Exposure to regular travel in remote locations.
  • May be required to use own vehicle on an expense account basis.
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry (Note:  It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position).

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
