Description

The Team
The Mining GIS team is an established, supportive group of six dedicated professionals who work collaboratively to provide geospatial expertise across the mining sector. The team values diverse perspectives and works closely with a wide range of colleagues—including mines inspectors, reclamation specialists, policy analysts, mineral titles and permitting staff—to ensure decisions are informed, transparent, and grounded in responsible land and resource stewardship. Their work directly supports safe and sustainable mining by creating tools and products that help guide statutory decision-making and improve public access to information.

The Role
The Spatial Data Analyst role creates meaningful geospatial products and tools that support informed, responsible decision‑making across the mining sector. In this role, you’ll develop analysis products, status reports, web‑based applications, and mobile solutions that help inspectors, decision makers, and the public access accurate and reliable spatial information. Candidates will enjoy a mix of technical problem‑solving, creativity, and autonomy, with opportunities to grow skills in areas ranging from land‑use analysis to scripting and emerging AI tools—all while contributing to transparent, safe, and responsible mining practices in BC.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in geomatics, resource management or related field, and/or a diploma in geographic information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience creating, editing, maintaining, designing and developing customized spatial applications and preparing recommendations based on natural resource interpretations with keen awareness of attention to detail.
  • Experience delivering large spatial analysis projects in support of client’s business needs.
  • Experience managing projects and working both independently and with project teams.
  • Experience in a high stress environment with acute attention to detail and committed approach to a high level of accuracy

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Foundational or working experience with mining or land administration systems in BC.
  • Education and/ or work experience in any of the following:
    • Oracle
    • Postgres
    • Structured Query Language (SQL)
    • ArcGIS/ArcPRO
    • ArcGIS model builder
    • ArcGIS Online (AGOL); Arcade; Java Scripting
    • QGIS
    • Python scripting
    • Mobile device applications used in natural resource management
    • RPAS (instrument use, pre and post processing software)
    • LIDAR
    • FME
    • Image analysis

There is currently one (1) permanent opportunity available.
