Description
The Team
The Indigenous Child Welfare Division (ICWD) is a newly established division within the Ministry of Children and Family Development, created to support meaningful change in B.C.’s child welfare system. ICWD works to align services with Indigenous rights, laws, and priorities through a joint jurisdiction model of service delivery. The division provides leadership and advice for services delivered under the Child, Family and Community Service Act and supports the implementation of Indigenous jurisdiction for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit families. This is a new and growing team, currently planned to include a small administrative unit that supports all ICWD branches and works closely with Executive Directors, Directors, and managers across the division, contributing to important work that impacts Indigenous children and families throughout the province.
The Role
The Program Assistant provides a wide range of administrative, secretarial, and financial support to the branch, playing a key role in keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly. This position coordinates the manager’s daily priorities, manages incoming communications, tracks issues requiring follow-up, and liaises with executive offices as needed. The Program Assistant also serves as the main point of contact for office administration, including facilities and equipment matters. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 6 months related experience; OR
- Evergreen and 1 year related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related Experience may include
- Experience working in an office setting.
Preference may be given to applicants with
- Experience working with indigenous communities.
- Experience CLIFF and eApprovals
- Experience with record management.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 1 day a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
