Description
The Team
The Labour Policy and Legislation Branch is a small, established policy team that provides expert labour relations and employment law advice to the Minister, ministry executive, senior officials, and partner agencies. The team leads the development of BC’s core labour laws and works closely with related program areas, stakeholders, boards, and tribunals to support fair, modern, and effective labour policies. Team members collaborate closely with legal counsel, external agencies, and central agencies on complex and high impact issues affecting workers and employers across BC.
The Role
As the Senior Policy Analyst, you’ll contribute to economy wide labour policy initiatives that support both workers and employers, including emerging issues such as gig work, worker precarity, employment standards, and worker safety. You’ll play a key role in research, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and the preparation of briefing and decision materials for senior leadership and Cabinet. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful mandate commitments and make a lasting impact on labour policy in British Columbia within a supportive, collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, industrial relations, law, economics, social sciences, or a related field and two (2) years of related experience, or
-
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, industrial relations, law, economics, social sciences, or a related field and three (3) years of related experience, or
-
Diploma in public administration, business administration, industrial relations, law, economics, social sciences, or a related field and four (4) years related experience, or
-
Certificate or coursework in public administration, business administration, industrial relations, law, economics, social sciences, or a related field and five (5) years related experience, or
-
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related Experience must include:
-
Experience in research and development of legislation, regulation, or policy.
-
Experience writing briefing materials for senior government officials.
-
Experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders or executives.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
-
Experience in the research and development of labour policy, regulation or legislation.

Experience working in industrial relations, labour law or a labour program area.
-
Experience in a policy role in legislative or regulatory drafting.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work a few days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
