Description
The Team
The Ministry of Infrastructure leads the province to deliver capital projects that help B.C. communities grow and thrive, including schools, hospitals, student housing, child care centres, primary care facilities, and long-term care facilities. As the lead for capital construction, the ministry works closely with several partner ministries to ensure important cross-government infrastructure projects are coordinated and delivered as efficiently as possible. The ministry also provides government workplace services, including managing government's real estate portfolio, office space inventory, furniture procurement, project and construction management, real estate services, and oversight of government's surplus property sales.
The Infrastructure Policy and Partnerships Division leads engagement with other organizations and levels of government. It also supports policy development and acquisition and disposition of property for public schools, post-secondary institutions, and medical facilities.
The Role
Reporting to the Director, Legislation, the Junior Policy Analyst provides research and policy analysis/evaluation to support policy development and legislative processes. The position will be responsible for establishing processes that enable timely completion, review, and approval of Orders-in-Council and Minister’s Orders. The position also compares data from various sources, utilizes statistical and qualitative methods to analyze data and trends, and presents findings in various formats; it also coordinates projects, develops proposals, participates in strategic planning and evaluation initiatives, and provides advice on research methodologies.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree and six (6) months of related experience*; OR
- Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of related experience*; OR
- Diploma and two (2) years of related experience*; OR
- Certificate or coursework and three (3) years of related experience*; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry. (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position.)
*Related experience must include:
- Researching policy issues.
- Conducting policy analysis.
- Managing projects and/or project components.
Preference may be given to candidates with the required combination of education and experience and:
- Experience with Order-in-Council and Ministerial Order processes.
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat Reader, TRIM, and/or CLIFF and CMS Lite.
- Project management experience.
- Related experience gained in a public service or government environment.

About this Position:
Hybrid work options are available. The successful applicant would be required to be in-office 1 day per week, subject to an approved telework agreement.
