The Team
The Property Taxation Branch is an established team that has significantly expanded in recent years. This diverse team collaborates closely with tax program colleagues and leaders from various government agencies, including the Land Title Survey Authority, the BC Assessment Authority, and municipal governments. The branch’s work is essential to generating revenue for the province and supporting affordability initiatives, with a strong focus on teamwork and inclusion.
The Role
We have one permanent Senior Auditor position available, offering you the chance to make a meaningful impact on the government's response to the housing crisis. In this role, you will help administer legislation aimed at changing taxpayers' behaviour, increasing housing supply, and stabilizing the real estate market. This position focuses on property transfer tax audits, ensuring proper reporting of the additional property transfer tax when foreign purchasers are involved.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Professional accounting designation CPA – CA/CGA/CMA, issued by a Canadian Accounting Association, in good standing.
Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the applicable Canadian Accounting Association.
Experience
- Five years of experience in accounting, tax, or auditing.
- Two years of audit experience.
- Two years of experience interpreting and applying legislation.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience in tax administration.
