The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB has been assigned to distribute, wholesale, and sell non-medicinal cannabis inclusive of a government owned online channel with a mandate to support government’s key priorities of protecting public health and safety, promoting social responsibility, and eliminating the illicit market.  Since 2018, the BC Cannabis Stores chain has grown to 39 locations across the province, providing an educational, safe, and socially responsible outlet for the BC public to engage with non-medical cannabis products. We distribute cannabis to all licensed retail locations across BC and work with licensed producers across Canada to provide a wide product assortment that is centrally distributed.  Cannabis operations within the BCLDB includes the Distribution, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing departments

About this role:

Reporting to the Inventory Control Supervisor, Richmond Distribution Centre (RDC), the Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for verifying inventory accuracy, investigating and resolving errors and exceptions between the Warehouse Management book inventory and the E-Business book inventory for the Cannabis Distribution Centre. The position works as a member of a team in the completion of all administrative functions as required.

We have one regular position and two temporary less than 7 months position available.

The role requires successful completion of a criminal record check, the ability to work rotating shifts, and readiness to work in a non‑air‑conditioned, noisy warehouse environment with running conveyors and material‑handling equipment, while wearing steel‑toed boots and a high‑visibility vest. This role operates various mechanical and hand‑operated equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, and electric pallet movers, must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and perform general warehouse duties involving frequent bending, standing, pushing, pulling, and carrying, walking 8–15 km per shift while consistently carrying 10 lbs., and standing for the full duration of the shift.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate with one (1) year recent, related experience*.

*Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last five (5) years and must include the following:

  • Experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment, i.e., high-reach machinery (order pickers) and standard forklifts.

Preference may be given to those candidates with any of the following:

  • Experience with inventory control.
  • Experience within the Cannabis industry.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management System.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in operations management, business management, purchasing and inventory control or similar discipline.
