Job Overview
The Policy Analyst independently manages assigned policy development projects focused on the review and revision of existing ministry programs or legislation. This position is responsible for developing various information sharing agreements and service level agreements with other organizations to ensure the effective and efficient administration by the Revenue Division of British Columbia’s tax and benefit programs. The role provides expertise to the division on the collection, use and disclosure of information and supports the ministry/division with meeting information needs, including coordinating branch responses to freedom of information requests. As well, the position represents British Columbia on various federal/provincial working groups that focus on enhancing the administration and enforcement of the various taxes imposed in Canada, for example, strategic initiatives aimed at addressing the underground economy.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- A member in good standing with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CGA; CPA, CMA; or CPA), issued by The Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, or law degree or post-secondary degree in a relevant subject, such as commerce, public or business administration, or equivalent education and experience.
- Two (2) years of experience in the following with any one of the education requirements above.
o Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
o Experience managing projects and/or project components.
- Preferred two (2) years of combined experience in the following:
o Demonstrated project management leadership experience.
o Experience with interpreting complex legislation.
o Working both independently and in teams with diverse stakeholder groups.
o Experience managing client need issues, including identification, analysis, planning and implementation of options.
o Experience working with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Provisos
- Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel within and outside of the province or the country.
- Successful completion of enhanced security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, including a criminal records check and credit check.

One permanent position is available in Victoria.
This competition is geographically restricted to Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent vacancies.
Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
