Description

The Team
At the Employment Standards Branch (ESB), you’ll contribute to protecting the rights of employees across British Columbia, including temporary foreign workers, by ensuring minimum employment standards are upheld. The ESB conducts investigations, inspections, and audits, issues decisions and permits, collects unpaid wages, and delivers outreach and education to promote fair and lawful workplaces.

The Role
In this role, you provide administrative, records management, legal, and collections support to multiple program areas within the branch, ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures. You also review and process trust disbursement requests, verifying documentation and financial accuracy to ensure funds are received and released appropriately under legislative requirements.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of *related experience.
  • Experience applying regulations or policies.

*Related experience includes all of the following:

  • Experience in word processing and other computer applications such as MS Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Experience using databases to enter, update, search, retrieve and extract data ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Experience providing client service.
  • Experience working in an office setting.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following: 

  • Diploma or Certification in a business or financial management or legal program from a recognized institution.
  • Experience working in a financial institution, legal or debt collection setting.
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies and procedures, or administrative guidelines related to financial transactions.
  • Experience tracking, monitoring, reconciling and reporting on financial or trust expenditures.
  • Experience interpreting and applying BC Government financial policy.
  • Experience working with BC Government records management systems.
  • Experience working with CAS/Oracle.
